We are Annie Rector and Kristin Hems, the owners of Third Avenue Events. As cliche as it sounds, the two of us knew on that first plane ride together that we were the perfect team. And from our first event, we knew there was something bigger at play - a partnership that truly allowed each of us to infuse our business with our own unique skills & experience. Simply put: we complement each other. We encourage each other to think outside the box, and we push each other to stretch the comfort zone.
There’s a delicate balance at work between our experience with logistics & client relationships, and our creative approach and fresh ideas. We will use our individual strengths and come together as a joint force to be a valuable part of your team. We are your advocates, problem solvers, and partners.

Annie Rector, CMP
Strategy and budget. Speaker and panel development. Registration systems, lead retrieval systems and production management. Annie starts with your vision and carries it through each pivotal step for your successful show, conference, user meeting and event. With a proven track record managing events and client relationships for technology giants 3M, Cerner, RSA and EMC, as well as leaders in the automotive world, Annie offers international and domestic event expertise.
A Central Missouri State University graduate in Tourism, Annie served as the vice president of the CMSU Tourism Society and president of the Professional Convention Management Association’s local chapter. Since earning her Certified Meeting Planner designation, Annie has taught and facilitated teams through the Kansas City chapter of Meeting Professionals International, as well as working for non-profits including the American Royal, United Way, Children’s TLC and NewHouse.
Kristin Hems, CMP
Invitations. Logistics. On-site management. Business development. Communications. Kristin has it covered. Whether managing experiential events and programs from start to finish for national auto manufacturers, running registration for medical conferences like the American Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Academy of Family Physicians, or leading digital marketing and brand management for ACE, Inc., Kristin commands the thousands of details and decisions that add up to each company’s spectacular event.
A Kansas State University graduate in Communication Studies, with an emphasis in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Kristin was an officer of the Lambda Pi Eta honorary and Mortar Board National Honors Society. She continues to give her time to several not-for-profit charity auctions, helping to raise money for Kansas City Children’s Assistance Network, Higher M-Pact and Children’s Mercy Hospital.
